It's been way too long, but it is now back. What is yarn dash? It's an online hide-and-seek game, where various yarn shops join us to offer you their best, and our members register to DASH to the shops and find the Yarn Dash creative image!

But, more than that, it's a chance for you to visit online yarn shops that perhaps you've not visited before. It's a chance for you to expand your knitting or crocheting horizons. It's an opportunity to dance the Yarn Dash dance with us!

In the end, if you visit all of the yarn shops that are part of the Yarn Dash that you enter, your name will be dropped into our Yarn Dash basket and you have a chance to win prizes - fabulous Yarn Dash prizes!

What a lovely weekend.....

I have been busy dyeing yarn all weekend. Not the ones above that was another time, but I really enjoy the process. The last lot is dyeing on the balcony and then it will be time to turn them into cakes.
I know some people only like hanks of yarn but I thought cakes would sit better at the trade show. Of course, when you order you can request either one. I know the trade show isn't until October but it does take a lot of planning (for me anyway). I'm one of those people that needs to have every little detail worked out way in advance.

Also, I plan to be selling my yarns to other shops by September. That is the plan anyway stay tuned and see what happens.

I hope my fellow Canadians had a great Canada Day and all of my American friends have a great 4th of July!

The Postal Strike continues.....

Unfortunately we've decided to close the store until the mail is up and running again. Couriers are too expense for me and I won't consider passing on the cost to my customers.

In the meantime I will dye yarn, visit with family, clean up (maybe) and plan for the October trade show at the Creative Festival. And, of course, knit.

It's going to be a warm day today and I'm off this afternoon to pick up a portable air conditioner. I hope it works well.

Yarn, yarn, yarn......

It was a beautiful day here not to hot or cool. I've been dyeing up a storm in the last little while. By next week I should reach the 100 skeins I wanted dyed for the DK weight yarn. I still don't have it listed on my site as I'm having a couple of issues with the labels, but soon I hope.

I am being patient because of the rotating postal strikes I may close down for the month of July. Sooner if they get locked out.

At least I'm working on projects a little more this month. I have a lacy summer cardigan that I think will be nice and an afghan for the fall.

I have decided to offer hanks or cakes when ordering Dodge Creations Dye Works from the store. I know people seem to like one or the other so now you can have what you want. I go back and forth and really like the cakes at the moment.

Take time to enjoy the weather and do something fun for yourself.

Another month long birthday party has come to an end and I wanted to thank everyone who took part in it this year. Instead of wanting to forget your birthday as we get older I find I look forward to it now and try to come up with nice gifts for everyone who takes part.

I'm working hard on our new DK (light worsted) weight. Here are some of the new colours and they will be added to the store shelves as soon as the new labels arrive (hopefully this weekend).

Royal and Coffee are just a couple of the new yarns.

We have been playing around with an idea that was asked innocently by a person on Ravelry. The idea is if you have a celebration coming up and you would like to give yarn we will create theme labels for you. For example:

I know this is small and blurry but the label could say Happy Birthday to whoever you would like or another message. Of course, this could only be done on the Dodge Creations Dye Works yarn as we really can't mess around with other yarns.

The birthday celebration is half over. Maybe next year it should be all year long, no, that's going too far.

It's so rainy here all weekend but except for not being able to take pictures it's still nice.

We are now carrying a huge amount of doll patterns that are really nice. Most should be all uploaded by the end of today the others have to wait until I can take pictures.

It's raining here this weekend but that's fine I like the rain. It's also a great time to work on projects and, of course, the never ending cleaning that always needs to be done.

Rain rain rain....

It looks like a weekend of rain ahead of us, but I just can't complain since that means spring is not too far away. There are other signs also such as the days are getting longer, my cat is shedding and we adjust our clocks ahead by one hour next weekend.

One other sign is I start feeling energized and always start too many projects and have too many ideas on the go I just can't keep them straight. I have plans going on for the creative festival in the fall, for patterns I am working on, dyeing plans and much more. Our new website is up and running and looking fine. :)

We are finally getting a little closer to spring. This winter wasn't so bad but it has seemed to take it's toll on me for some reason. Not to worry though spring will appear eventually.

In the meantime we have another guest blogger, Sharon, to help past the last few weeks of winter.

....Where did the last year go? It was back at the end of December 2009 (literally, it was the 30th!) that I joined Ravelry. I joined the Dodge Creations group there almost immediately. I don’t honestly remember, but it may very well have been the first group I joined!

Debbie and Karen Austin were kind enough to supply the “Super Easy Vest with Scarf” pattern for free to group members as part of a KAL. I was just so excited to be a part of the group and to get this wonderful pattern to work with that I never really stopped to think about how big the project was! I eagerly started on January 11th and worked on it nearly every day until the Ravelympics started.

My main Ravelympics project was also Dodge Creations associated, but that’s for another post! ;)

Once Ravelympics were over and after some assistance from my mom (she picked up the stitches around the front and neck for me) I finished the vest March 27th. I kept track of the number of stitches and rows I completed each day.

I feel like this was a great project. It helped me to learn the ins and outs of Ravelry. It also helped me to get to know my fellow Dodge Creations group members more. They have become my friends and it is truly the one place I look forward to checking for new posts each time I log in! I’m usually on Ravelry daily. :)

ALPHABET SOUP

I’m no psychiatrist, nor psychologist for that matter. But I am a writer, which gives me enough authority to state unequivocally that many knitters suffer from several syndromes: I am KOCD, and I also suffer from AADOSD. Some might call that second one AADLS!D. More on that later.

What is KOCD? It’s Knitting Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Its main symptom is the drive to always have knitting in your hands. Since I am also bi-craftual, you’re just as likely to find a crochet project in my hands. This syndrome is especially deadly when combined with AADOSD/AADLS!D.

AADOSD is Adult Attention Deficit Oh…Shiny Disorder. As I said before, some people call it Adult Attention Deficit Look, Squirrel! Disorder. Those particularly affected will accept that both terms pertain to them.

What’s all this mean in practical terms? It means that we who suffer from these disorders can’t have enough projects going at the same time. I know I need that Euroflax for a linen hand towel like I need that proverbial hole in my head, but that won’t stop me from putting in my order.

First Post of 2011.....

Hopefully it won't be the last I seem to be very bad at this. New Years resolution? I will try harder to blog on a regular basis, but no promises.

So how is your new year so far? I have already been overwhelmed by work, worried about money, fed up with winter and wishing I could go on a trip, but part of me still feels all dreams are possible. I will hold on to the "all dreams are possible" for a little while longer and forget the rest. :)

Two new colours I've added to my yarns are Play Dough and Party Mix.

We will be back at the Creative Festival this year and my booth is # 700 this time. It is a bigger booth and, hopefully, I will be able to set it up better this time around. I do have some surprises but it's far too early to take about it.

I'm attempting my hand at designing socks this year so if you see some funny looking socks around they will probably be mine. lol It's good to continue to challenge yourself as long as you can laugh about it and not take yourself too seriously.

Five Weeks left.....

I can't believe it! Time goes amazingly fast these days. I think part of it is the great weather we've been having so far. Until yesterday I was still wearing my fall jacket, so how can December be a week away?

I do have a new "Gifts and Stocking Stuffers" page on our website now that I am getting into the mood. I'm also ordering crochet thread (bedspread weight) for the store and for me to work on a nice bedspread during the cold months.

What are you working on? I have one mitten made, two socks up to the toes and the back of a sweater. I guess I should get back to it.

Day Two done......

The morning started off slow and then turned really busy by 11:30 and stayed steady the rest of the day. It has been a great experience and I will be back next year. I am already planning with a bigger booth, fibre for spinning, maybe a spinning demonstration, etc. But all of that is for next week tonight I am tired and must be off to bed. Thank you to all that came out to meet us and support us and all of those that supported from afar. :)

The set up......

First of all the booth is so tiny 10 x 5 not the 10 x 10 I thought it was. But after the initial shock I got to work. I did waste 2 hours trying to put the shelves together, but one person cannot hold 4 legs and place the shelf evenly. It can't be done! Colin finally arrived and we put them up in 20 minutes.

The picture doesn't seem nice, but it is really cute. I'll take more pictures tomorrow.

I'm off for a hot shower and an early night.

Count Down.....

Six days from now and we open our booth ready or not. I must say we are ready though as everything is packed up and ready to be shipped out on tuesday. I will be there bright and early on thursday to set the booth up and make sure we haven't forgot anything.

It is now too late to mail out anymore postcards for 20% at our booth, but if you email me I'll have the postcard waiting at the booth for you. I can be reached at dodgecreations@gmail.com

I must say our store is looking a little bare these days but it is only temporary. :) The good thing is it's making me think of bringing in new product for November. I haven't decided yet but am thinking about crochet threads, rovings, weaving cotton, a bigger range of cashmere and so much more. Be sure to visit us in November to see what is new.

Fall is here.....

This is my favourite time of year I always seem more energized and (I know it's too early), but thoughts of Christmas start seeping in. The plans for the CreativFestival are almost complete I just need to arrange the transportation and I am ready. Postcards are still available for anyone attending the show. They can be redeemed for 20% of your purchases at our booth (#800).

To do list for September is to finish the dyeing for the show and organize all the little details. Then I get to think about Christmas. I already know I don't have time for the list of items I want to make for everyone so I just may stay with small projects. Plus I'm hoping to be able to complete two quilts for Christmas.

Last Long Weekend of the Summer.....

The best part is it was so cool outside I was actually able to be productive. The 80 yarns I hand dyed a few weeks ago are finally becoming skeins. Here is a picture of about 30 of them.

A lot of the plans are almost complete for the October show so I am starting to relax a little. The yarn I will be selling is:

The Planning......

I know the CreativFestival is two months away but I am already in a panic that I am running out of time. The only way I can feel better is to plan, plan and plan some more.

Some things have been accomplished the cashmere yarn, organic cotton and acrylic bags are ready to go.

I also have the shopping bags all ready.

Kits are still being worked on and lots and lots of dyeing left to do.

Long Weekend......

Well it's a long weekend, in Canada anyway, and I am looking forward to getting a lot of planning done. Also, now that Dodge Creations Dye Works yarn is in fingering, sport and worsted weights I will be hand dyeing yarn all weekend.Requests are coming in already for the 20% off postcards for the CreativFestival. They will be mailed out late August or early September. I'm still working on the kits for the show and I keep changing my mind, so hopefully, this weekend I'll finalize which kits I'm actually going to have available.

Do you have an interesting knitting or crocheting story? If you do I would love to include it in my newsletters. Just send me your story and let me know if you want me to use your first, full, or no name at all when I post it in the newsletter. The stories can be whatever you want funny, serious, a frustrating time, etc.

I have 100% organic cotton on its way. These are 50g skeins. It's vintage fibre for the purist.

The Story of Naturally Coloured Cotton

There is a theory that cotton grew in many different colours before the industrial revolution. However only white cotton had fibres long enough to be spun by machines. As a result, white cotton was grown commercially for the emerging industrial markets and the other colors of cotton either died out or were kept alive by hand spinners as part of a residual cottage industry.

In the late 1960’s Sally Fox began cross breeding brown cotton – considered a weed by “white cotton” growers – in an effort to develop a long fibred coloured cotton that could be spun commercially. This cross breeding exposed a recessive gene for green, which Sally stabilized, and in turn cross bred to produce a long fibred green cotton.

Initially, this naturally coloured cotton was grown conventionally – with chemical pesticides, fertilizers and defoliants. However, as demand grew, farms were contracted to grow naturally coloured cotton, organically.

Unfortunately, by the mid-1990s organic cotton initiatives by various US mills had not reached the “critical mass” needed to be commercially viable, so the growing and processing of organic cotton was sourced primarily to third world countries. Still we are indebted to the many US companies that began the journey to move a major component of the textile industry - cotton - to the stage of being chemically-free. In addition to Sally Fox's company - Naturally Coloured Cotton, brands such as Patagonia and Levi Strauss, to name a few, endured huge losses, in their efforts to bring the concept of chemically free fiber to the public's attention.

We are there now. Organic cotton is a household word. In some cases we have added colour for those that need it; but for the purists, there is naturally coloured brown and green cotton.

I'm thrilled it's finally the weekend again, but now my weekends seem busier than my weeks. At least I get to play with yarn on the weekend so it's not so bad.

I'm now trying to pretend it's not hot so I can get on with the things I have to do. So what's new? Well, I have added Astra, Astra Variegated, Berella "4", and Cot'n Corn to the list of yarns on sale. It really is a good time to stock up for holiday knitting.
I'm working hard on the kits for the trade show and will, hopefully, have pictures by next weekend. It should be a lot of fun though I am still nervous about it. Please be sure to drop by and say hi if you are attending the CreativFestival in October. We will be at booth #800.

Summer Heatwave.....

July has been off to a great start and my new colours have been flying off the shelves. I would like introduce Fiesta and Ocean.
I've been busy dyeing yarns to bring up the stock of my colours and maybe, just maybe, come up with some new ones this month.

The Arwen Wrap by Tabitha's Heart is almost finished and I will be sure to post pictures as soon as it's blocked. The plan is to knit socks for the rest of the summer since it is just too hot for anything else. Spring Forward by Linda Welch it the sock pattern I hope to cast on this weekend.

The store still has great sales going on for the summer while supplies last. A couple of items are already sold out. Most of these are items I will not be stocking again so get them now while prices are so low.

CreativFestival plans are still being worked on. So far, we will have Dodge Creations superwash wool in fingering, sport and worsted weight. Kits, kits, and more kits. Working hard on coming up with a treat for friends of our Ravelry group, blog, newsletter and customers who drop by and visit us at our booth #800. Any ideas? If so, please post your suggestions.

Since the launch of Dye Works I'm been busy dyeing new colourways and testing. Hope to have some new ones in the next couple of weeks.

I have the booth booked for the Creative Festival in October (#800) across from the cafe so if you are at the festival please be sure to drop by and say hi. We will be selling Karen Austin patterns and hopefully a few more. Details are still to be sorted out.

Dodge Creations Dye Works.....

Well the launch is done and the yarn (so far) has been received well. I will be adding colours as we go along and wanted to thank all of the testers for their help.

We have decided to have a booth at the Creative Festival in Toronto this October so it would be great if you dropped by and said hi. I don't have any other information other than I am going to try this and hopefully have some fun as well as learn how to do it better next year. :)

I'm very late with the subscriber draw but am happy to announce Kelly from California is the winner for February. Her gift will be on it's way to her tomorrow.

This month has been so busy. Dodge Creations will be launching our new yarn "Dodge Creations Dye Works" on March 1st. The yarn is 100% merino superwash wool. Fingering weight, approx 380 yards 100 g. Hopefully we will have a nice variety of colours by March 1st.

Hopefully they will be well received. We have currently sent out skeins to 14 wonderful testers who will let me know what they think of working with our yarn.

We are now halfway through the winter and while it's been pretty mild today is freezing here. Good thing I don't have to go out at all. :)

It's day 23 in the new year and so far it's been pretty good. The weather has been great here without a lot of snow or ice. I even went back to wearing my running shoes out instead of boots. Of course, I know that won't last but for this week it was nice.

Store updates - the Sugar'n Cream is now on sale for $1 per ball while supplies last. My own line of superwash wool handyed wool yarn (fingering weight) should be available by March. I can't wait for that. I'm also including a couple of new yarns that will be available the middle of February.

I am determined to keep Christmas in mind so I can make gifts all year long and not be pressured to finish at the last minute. And I'm finishing my first vest today.

2010 is here......

I always feel, at the beginning of a new year, that everything is possible. I haven't made any resolutions but I have set goals for my business and my personal life. The trick is not to beat yourself up if you don't reach them all. The important part is being able to get closer to the outcome you want. Someone told me once if you work hard towards the goal you want the cosmos will conspire to help you get there and I do believe that. So the first step is up to you to do everything you can to make your dreams happen and that is something you can actually control.

My wish for 2010 is that everyone will be able to meet their goals or come a step closer to achieving them.

Last Day of 2009......

So it's the last day of the year and I have found this to be a very hard year. I've had to deal with issues I never thought I would, but have to say I have learned a lot. I hope the year has been good to you but if not it is over and we can now look forward to 2010.

I have set goals for myself and my business that I believe are achievable and reasonable. I plan to work very hard this year to bring myself closer to accomplishing my 4 year plan. I'm not a very patient person but will have to learn to be to complete my goals properly.

For Dodge Creations we have started the "Loyalty Club" as a way to thank all our customers that come back again and again. The way it works is once you have placed 5 orders with us you can have a choice of a skein of yarn (of your choice from our stock) for 50% off or 10% off your complete 6th order. Christmas 2009

It's almost here and I'm looking forward to Christmas Eve. Christmas Eve has always been my favourite time. My son and I pick a movie, we call around to make sure the rest of the family is home and safe from bad weather, have a late dinner and just enjoy the tree and a quiet night.

Money has been tight this year but it really doesn't matter. We've had Christmas with a lot of money and huge gifts and Christmas with little money. It may be more difficult without because it is more of a challenge and does take a lot of planning. The rewards can be just as great or better.

Our family is used to this and the important part is getting together on Christmas day for dinner, a few games and a lot of fun. So regardless of what is going on Christmas is great and we always enjoy it.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and are able to spend it with the ones you love.

The time is flying way to fast for me. Aside from my store and working full time I've been going to the gym. So everyday I'm out there doing something. It's either going to finish me off or I'll end up healthier, but I'm not sure which one it'll be yet.

I really hope everyone is not stressed with the pressure of the season. Getting everything done is important (I suppose) but you all are much more important. Take care of yourself and be sure to put yourself first once in a while at least. :)

Tomorrow is December and I am no where close to having everything done that I should. Hopefully I will be putting the tree up today before I go back to work tomorrow. That always makes the place so festive. (Except for our cat knocking all the decorations off the tree, but then that has now become another tradition).

Tomorrow I announce the winner of the December subscribers draw. I enjoy doing that. And with the Indigo Moon bundles you can now mix and match the colours.

It's starting to get cold here, but it is the first time in 70 years that we haven't had snow in November. I think that's great since I get to go a little longer before I start falling on my butt. :)

Are you thinking of Christmas yet?

I usually start thinking about Christmas in July. I just love it that much. I have learned not to mention it until at least November to avoid the dirty looks I get. I have had Christmas when I had money and gave expensive gifts and, most of the time, I've had Christmas without money and had to be extremely creative to make it the best ever. What is interesting is the ones without money always have been the best.

Instead of thinking about gifts I try to come up with creating a great atmosphere leading up to Christmas and after. I usually save a week of vacation time for the week before Christmas to really start the fun. Baking , special movies, going downtown to see the lights and decorations. If affordable a Christmas play. We plan one dinner out that week and pick the movies we are going to watch Christmas eve. I haven't decided what the plans will be for this year yet. Right now my big problem is where to put the tree.

I've been so busy lately, but I can't believe it's Oct 19th already. The temperature dropped here and they were even saying it may snow, but it's warmed up a little again. This is my favourite time of year I get so energized, start a ton of projects and then am too busy to blog about anything.

I failed miserably on my knitted Christmas gifts maybe I can catch up. I'll try anyway. Are you finished, almost, or are you in the same boat as me?

I did receive a beautiful purse made by my friend Kate. I just love it.

I have finished three more blocks on my 101 stitches afghan. They are:

Isn't it beautiful? She designed it to be used with the Bernat Satin yarn. I can't wait to make it myself.

September is almost over......

Fall is my favourite time of year and I'm afraid it is just flying by and I've been too busy to notice.
I just have to start taking walks again to at least enjoy it before the winter starts.

We are so happy to announce we are now selling one of Karen Austin's designs with, hopefully, more on the way. It is a beautiful Beaded Scarf with fringe and a flower pin and is made with Zephyr Lace Weight wool-silk yarn.

Hey Everyone,

I'm been busy but no excuse I love posting here and I need to put the things I enjoy at the top of the list for a change.

We've added a couple of new yarns to the store. Bernat Satin (feels amazing) and Bernat Baby Boucle'. I've had a lot of requests so here they are.

We have also come up with 4 Gift Baskets (to start with more on the way). Two a for beautiful baby outfits, one for a doggy bed and one for that always needed stash bag.

I'm still working on my 101 stitches I just have to block a couple and take the pictures. I'm also almost finished my first felted bag.

The time is just flying by.....

I can't believe it's been a week since I posted here. I had great plans for this week and not one has worked out. First my blocks, the last one I finished I spilled tea all over it and haven't gotten back to start over.
My own line of wool is not working out for reasons beyond my control, but I will be starting my own line of alpaca yarn. Due to the last minute problems though this is not going to be a quick process. Hopefully, by November I will have it, but I'm not sure if I'm just being optimistic. Much more negotiating to be taking place this upcoming week.

I'm making a felted bag for myself and if it turns out (and even if it doesn't) I'll post pictures as soon as I finished. I'm using the Bernat natural felting wool so I'm anxious to see how it turns out.

I am trying to change the format of my shop but have run into so many technical problems. That is also supposed to be resolved this week coming up.

Play Yarn Dash starts on Tuesday so if you have signed up yet sign up. It's a lot of fun with a chance to win great prizes.

I hope everyone is enjoying a nice long weekend. It's been nice here and a great chance to catch up on projects still outstanding.

I'm still working on my 101 stitches, unfortunately, I spilled tea all over the last one I made so I will redo that one. It had to be a white block so I'm not wasting time trying to clean it. I also want to start a felted bag for myself and have just received the Bernat Felting Natural Wool to use.

I am having fun with the blocks I'm creating from the 101 Stitches to Knit from Interweave Press.

I am not doing them in order so if you are doing them also please feel free to post your pictures on my Ravelry group.

I will continue to alternate between these two colours of Berella 4 yarn and, hopefully, will end up with a nice afghan at the end. :)

Hey Everyone,

Our clearance sale is going great, but I need to make room for new yarns coming in, so hopefully there are items people just can't resist at these low prices.

In the meantime I am going to start an educational journey for myself. I have just received the 101 stitches to knit cards from Interweave Press and can't wait to get started.

What I'm going to to is create a block from each pattern and, hopefully, when I get to the end I'll have a nice blanket for myself. I'll post my thoughts and problems with each stitch and a picture of the finished block.

We are so happy to have Karen Gass, editor of Cotton Spice Quilting Magazine as our host. Please drop by her blog to see all the wonderful things she is involved in (including the wonderful Yarn Dashes).

It's finally here Canada Day, another Birthday for Canada, a day off for us and our first blog tour. It's all so exciting.

Dodge Creations has been in business for five years but really didn't come to life until March 2008 when we joined Ravelry. Ravelry has been such a positive influence on our ability to connect with people, to know what is going on in the world, and to get our advertising out there. Not to mention my personal growth with advertising, blogs, twitter and facebook. My son can't believe I now know about such things.

We run Dodge Creations from my home with my son creating all of the advertising and being my computer guy when things are not working. We have worked hard to create partnerships with designers (Desert Rose Designs and Jessica Salonen) and work with wonderful businesses such as Roxanne from Zen Gardens and Trish from Indigo Moon and have sponsored many trade shows and events big and small. We are always on the look out for partnerships. We now have our own group on Ravelry called Dodge Creations and if you are a member of Ravelry please drop by and say Hi.

We have had fun so far this year with draws for $40 worth of yarn, book give-a-ways, discounts on yarns and kits and my favourite was having all of you help celebrate my birthday by sending you a birthday present with every order during the month of May. That was so much fun I'm already trying to think of what I can do for next year.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and is looking forward to the July celebrations. In Canada we are celebrating July 1st Canada Day and in the USA they are celebrating Independence Day on July 4th.

In order to celebrate both events we are having our first ever blog tour that will start here on July 1st. This will promote several online shops that would love to have you come visit. We are planning a huge draw and some other surprises that will remain a secret for now. You will just have to drop by on the 1st to find out!

We will also announce the winners of the June draws and give you a little glimpse behind the scenes of Dodge Creations.

The party was great and I had so much fun giving out gifts this will definitely be an annual event. I also came up with some great ideas for next year, so please be sure to come back for the party next year.

Well, I'm so happy to announce Janette from Texas is the winner of the draw for $40 worth of in-stock yarn. As soon as she picks out what she would like it will be on its way.

New yarn from Zen Gardens is on its way this month and I can't wait for it to arrive. Roxanne's yarn is always worth wanting for though. :)

Eight days left for my month long birthday party celebration. It's been so much fun. I've met a lot of people online, started partnerships and came up with some great ideas for next year. Of course, next years celebration will be kept under wraps until then. :)

Personally, I started a lot of projects I just can't seem to finish any of them, but I will keep trying.
New yarn is on the way and that always triggers new projects. It's really amazing that I put any of it up for sale I just want to keep it all for me.

It's a beautiful day here in Toronto and I plan to do some spinning in the sun this weekend. Don't forget on June 1st we will be announcing the winner of the draw for $40 of yarn (your choice of all in-stock yarn). I will post it on our website, on twitter, here and email you directly. May is half over and I can't believe the first half of 2009 is almost gone. I just can't keep up.

Well, based on the results we have received we have decided to get one of everything in the beverage area. (Good for me...)

Play Yarn Dash starts tomorrow and if you haven't signed up yet it's not too late. Also, the great KAL for the Springtime Sock kit (designed by Desert Rose Designs) is starting tomorrow on Ravelry and should be a lot of fun. People have been receiving their kits (from Dodge Creations) and we are ready to go!

It's almost halfway since we started our month long party and it has been really fun.

We will kick off the second half on May 15th with the start of the Play Yarn Dash www.playyarndash.com If you haven't signed up yet give it a try. The grand prize, supplied by Dodge Creations, will be 4 skeins of Serenity sock yarn (2 denim and 2 honeycomb) plus there are other great prizes.

So many people have visited the site and the Springtime Socks kit is a real hit. The kit has Squooshy or Sea Sock yarn from wonderful Zen Gardens. This pattern is so nice and was designed by Desert Rose Designs. Thank you Jean for allowing us to use it in kits.

Friday the party begins. We have been putting final touches on the gifts, our newsletter goes out tonight and I just can't wait.

My Weekend Ritual

It's seems I can only find time on Saturdays to update this blog, but the weather is beautiful today and I'm going to find time to sit on the balcony and spin a little.

What's coming up for Dodge Creations? Well, we are putting the finishing touches on the birthday gifts that will be given out for each order we receive in May. We also have another give-a-way on the go for May, but you will have to visit our site in May to find out what it is. Also, we are currently taking part in another Play Yarn Dash and will be doing it again in May. I just love Play Yarn Dash so if you haven't taken part yet go check it out.

I haven't been updating this blog as much as I wanted and I will continue to try to update more often.

Well, April is here and my blowout sale is over, but there are plans for new and exciting ideas.

One idea, that I will post on my website later today, is for every order I receive (in the month of April) the customer can receive one of the books on my site for free. How it will work is once you place your order go through the books I have for sale, pick one, then email it to me and I will ship it with your order at no charge. What do you think?

Next, don't forget May is my birthday month and everyone who places an order in May will receive a little birthday gift to help me celebrate.

Also, for May I will be part of a blog tour that will help you connect with other wonderful businesses that I'm sure you'll will want to get to know. Check back here for updates on the tour.

It's finally Friday and I have had a full week of working on things I really did not want to deal with.
But the weekend is here and look at what I received in the mail. The picture doesn't do the yarn justice it is beautiful yarn shipped to me by Indigo Moon. This weekend I will be cataloging it and adding these wonderful skeins to my website.

My current blowout sale will be ending at the end of the month and the plans for my May birthday giveaway are almost completed.

Saturday morning....

It's Saturday morning and I love Saturdays. The whole weekend is still ahead, spring is here and I am almost finished counting my inventory. I really dislike counting inventory but love it when it's all done. My store is an online store but sometimes people in the neighbourhood will ask to pick up their orders and it's these items that don't get deducted properly. My website controls the inventory perfectly and I on the other hand do not, so I have to count it every now and then.

The other reason is I have a huge amount of yarn coming in from Indigo Moon (I can't wait) and I need to make some room. Reorganize, reorganize and reorganize. The real problem is as I go through all this yarn I think of all the projects I want to make and am tempted to move it over to my personal stash.

I've come up with a few ideas for my birthday giveaways for May. Nothing huge but I think it will be cute and useful.

I hope to go to the Knitter's Frolic (April 25-26) this year to see what it's all about. I have been told it is one of the better shows and I haven't gone to one in a long time. I always seem to be too busy. If I go I'll take pictures and post them here.

Spring Savings....

I've been so busy planning for my birthday month I forgot to mention what else is going on now.

Let's see...spring is coming and I feel so energized I'm going to reorganize all the yarns I have in stock and get ready for the yarns I've just ordered. To help with the organizing I have discounted a lot of the yarn to give me some room. Some of these yarns such as Kroy, Silverlash and Shetland Chunky I won't be stocking anymore, so if you want those the prices will never be better.

The new beautiful kettle-dyed yarn is coming from Indigo Moon and I can't wait for it to arrive. I'll post pictures when it gets here.

This is it my first blog, so please be gentle.
I wanted to start a blog to bring attention to some things I would love to share. I will start with saying I run an online wool store (http://www.dodgecreations.com) and have some ideas and plans that I thought I would like to talk about.
First I've come across this great site called Play Yarn Dash found at http://www.playyarndash.com/. This is great for both people and businesses. It is a game of hide and seek done online only. People (Dashers) sign up and they have two weeks to go on the sites of the businesses that have signed up to find and click on a hidden coded square (not hard to find) and once they find them all they are put in a draw for gifts. What could be better than that? For the businesses that sign up, and I am one of them, a large number of people are brought to your site and I find it a lot of fun watching to see how many people have come to your site.

The other idea I wanted to mention was about my birthday in May. As much as I would like everyone to send me presents I know that's not going to happen ever so instead I thought I would send a little gift to everyone who orders from my store in May. How is that for celebrating my birthday? I'm not sure yet what I will do or how but check out my next post to find out.
